Season's Greeting

Season’s Greetings and Merry Christmas from Sheriff Vickers

Season’s Greetings! This is a very busy time of the year for everyone as we scurry about to decorate, shop and wrap everything just perfect. But let us all stop and reflect on the real reason for Christmas, the birth of our Savior. I want to once again take this time to acknowledge our staff for their contributions to our success.  Our staff is a combination of the most dedicated deputies and administrative and civilian staff in the history of our office. I want to thank each and every one of them for their hard work and encourage you to do the same when you see them.  Marion County is truly blessed.

I would also like to acknowledge and thank our community for their tremendous support for my administration since July of 2015. The circumstances were difficult to say the least for all of us. The loss of my husband, Roger Vickers, was tremendous, not only to my family but to the entire community. While there was no way to ever fill his shoes, together, as a department and a community, we pulled together and made it work. I am grateful to all of you that stepped up and stepped in when it was crunch time.

As my term ends, I know I pass the badge to a very good man. Clinton Evans will do great things for Marion County. He will handily keep law moving in a positive direction for our county. He will continue to manage this Department in a professional manner. He will build on Roger’s vision, but will do so in his own way and will set his own legacy. He is a true leader and I congratulate him and wish him the very best as he takes the title of MC-1 on January 1, 2017.

We look forward to the Christmas season, and we hope you do as well. My commitment to the citizens of this County remains strong, and I will continue to work with the members of our community to improve the quality of life for each of you.
