On 10/29/23 at approximately 10:09P, the Marion County Dispatch Center was advised of a shooting incident that occurred at 1093 Marion County (MC) Road 124 in the Oakland Community. Deputies from both the Marion and Baxter County Sheriff's Departments, along with first responders from the Oakland/Promise Land Volunteer Fire Department and an ambulance from Baxter Health responded and found a twenty-three (23) year old female suffering from a gunshot wound. The female was transported to Baxter Health for treatment and later died as a result of her injuries. Investigators responded to the scene and have conducted several interviews and collected evidence related to the incident. The body of the victim was transferred to the Baxter County Coroner's Office and will be transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

The investigation is active and ongoing, and updates will be furnished as more information becomes available.
