On Monday, November 13, 2023, a Custodian for the Yellville-Summit Schools recovered a note from a urinal at the high school. The note read "I'M GONNA SHOOT EVERYONE". The Custodian reported finding the note to school officials, who then notified the Marion County Sheriff's Department.

The Sheriff's Department has reviewed video footage from the school and conducted several interviews with school staff and students. The Sheriff's Department also assigned additional Deputies to patrol the school and the areas adjacent to the school as part of their response.

There have been no arrests or weapons recovered, and Investigators continue to work with school officials to determine the origin of the note. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the Sheriff's Department.
